SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is is intended to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the faking of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers which are permitted to send email messages from mail boxes using the domain. When this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks whether it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but when it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it look as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.
SPF Protection in Web Hosting
SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down list and enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be approved to send email messages from your email addresses. As an added option you may also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature offers you the top degree of safety, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are managed somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account from us, you will be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF security service for any domain hosted in the account with only a couple of clicks. You can do this from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these kinds of things, you won't have any kind of difficulties to enable the security. The only things that you'll need to do will be to find a domain from a drop-down list and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered worldwide only if they're sent from that server. If your e-mail addresses are managed by our company and not by a third-party supplier, you'll also be able to use an option for emails to be mailed only if the domain name has our MX records and the aforementioned would be the safest option. In case you have any kind of questions regarding thisfunction, you'll be able to contact our technical support team 24/7.
